The nature of the foreign listing premium: A cross-country examination

► We examine the premium for listing on foreign stock exchanges. ► We show that many exchanges (besides the US) are associated with a foreign listing premium. ► The premium has little to do with institutional features of the exchange. ► The foreign listing premium is most related to variation in pre-listing valuation ratios.
