The cross-section of mutual fund fee dispersion

► We analyze the factors affecting the cross section of mutual fund fee dispersion. ► We find that fee dispersion decreases with fund size and age, and fund complex size. ► We find lower fee dispersion for funds that charge marketing and distribution fees. ► Our results show that search costs positively affect fee dispersion.
