Household survey data for research on well-being and behavior in Central Asia

► Central Asia appears vastly understudied compared with other world regions. ► This is due in part to a lack of accessible and useful primary survey data. ► Many research questions in economics concerning Central Asia, transition processes and development in general can only be answered with better micro-level data, specifically with more longitudinal data sets. ► We identify two promising datasets, which may facilitate more research in the future. ► They may also lay the foundation for more evidence-based policy making.
