Aerobic oxidation of thiols to disulfides catalyzed by a manganese(III) Schiff-base complex

The oxidative coupling of aromatic thiols into the corresponding disulfides using a manganese(III) Schiff-base complex as catalyst under aerated and mild conditions is described. This system provides an efficient, convenient and practical method for the syntheses of symmetrical disulfides.
