Manageable cytotoxicity of nanocapsules immobilizing d-amino acid oxidase via exogenous administration of nontoxic prodrug

Amino-functional hollow mesoporous silica could effectively immobilize d-amino acid oxidase (DAO), and enhance stability of DAO. After going through endocytosis, cytotoxicity of the nanocapsules immobilizing DAO could be regulated by exogenous administration of d-amino acids to generate H2O2 with strong oxidbillity, which can readily cross cellular membranes and then directly cause oxidative damage to DNA, proteins and lipids.
