A nanoplate-like α-Al2O3 out-layered Al2O3-ZrO2 coating fabricated by micro-arc oxidation for hip joint prosthesis

- The formation mechanism of Al2O3-ZrO2 coating was explored.
- The Al2O3-ZrO2 coating shows obvious improvement in wear behavior compared to Zr.
- The wear behavior of Al2O3-ZrO2 coating is stable after aging treatment.
