Influence of growth ambient on the surface and structural properties of vanadium oxide nanorods

► The structural and surface properties of V2O5 nanorods were studied by XPS and RS. ► Controlling of growth ambient enhance surface stoichiometry of V2O5 nanorods. ► Partially reduced surface can be obtained under reducing ambient. ► The surface non-stoichiometry may be correlated with structural disorder.
