Growth and structure of Si and Ge in vanadium oxide nanomesh on Pd(1Â 1Â 1) studied by STM and DFT

▸ We studied the growth and structure of Si and Ge in vanadium oxide nanomesh on Pd(1 1 1) by STM and DFT calculations. ▸ All the Si atoms formed isolated Si nanoclusters. ▸ Some Ge atoms formed monomer Ge nanodots on Pd(1 1 1), while the others formed isolated Ge nanoclusters.
