Comparison between FTIR and XPS characterization of amino acid glycine adsorption onto diamond-like carbon (DLC) and silicon doped DLC

► Diamond-like carbon (DLC) synthesized and characterized, DLC surface modified with silicon (Si-DLC). ► Adsorption study using amino acid glycine. ► Investigation of glycine configuration using spectroscopic ellipsometry, FTIR and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopes (XPS). ► Mechanism of adsorption investigated change due to esterification of carboxyl species. ► Small amount of silicon content DLC enhance the glycine adsorption.
