Photocatalytic mineralization study of malachite green on the surface of Mn-doped BiOCl activated by visible light under ambient condition

► Novel Mn/doped BiOCl catalyst with separate Mn sites was synthesized. ► Reduced crystallite size, larger the specific surface area, provides more exposed area to incident photons. ► The recombination of dissolved chloride ion to the BiOCl photocatalyst ensured BiOCl as a practical photocatalyst with long lifetime. ► Decrease in COD and increase in CO2 shows complete mineralization.
