Surface modification of calcium fluoro and hydroxyapatite by 1-octylphosphonic dichloride

► Surface reactivity of hydroxy and fluoroapatite toward 1-octylphosphonic dichloride is tested. ► Chemical analysis shows that hydroxyapatitite is more reactive. ► 31P MAS-NMR spectra show the formation of Ca-O-P bond on the apatitic surface.
