Nitrogen doping effects on the structure of graphene

► N-graphene was prepared by the heat-treatment of graphene using ammonia. ► N-doping effects on graphene microstructure and bonding were investigated. ► XANES results reveal the unoccupied DOS increases after the N-doping. ► N-doping decreases the surface oxygen-containing groups.
