Applicability of Cassie-Baxter equation for superhydrophobic fluoropolymer-silica composite films

- Flat and transparent p(FMA-ran-S) copolymer films were successfully prepared using longer perfluoroalkyl chains of copolymers.
- Superhydrophobic surfaces were obtained with the increase of silica particle concentration.
- Applicability of Cassie-Baxter equation was also investigated for rough silica composite films.
- Cassie-Baxter equation cannot be used for superhydrophobic surfaces.
