Controllable growth of BiOCl film with high percentage of exposed {0Â 0Â 1} facets

BiOCl films with a controlled shape and high percentage of exposed {0 0 1} facets (up to 97.69%) were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal route, taking advantage of a specific stabilization effect of chlorine ion on {0 0 1} facets of BiOCl.
