Effect of mechanical activation on jell boronizing treatment of the AISI 4140

► A new boronizing technique was investigated. ► The boronizing temperature decreased from 1000 °C to 700 °C. ► It will be applicable to boronize the ferrous materials without atmosphere control systems.
