Preparation and characterization of Mg-doped ZnO thin films by sol-gel method

► Mg segregates in the form of MgO in the ZnO thin film with Mg:Zn = 0.08. ► The band gap increases from 3.26 to 3.34 eV with increasing Mg concentration. ► A strong ultraviolet emission and a weak blue emission are observed.
