Influence of absorbed moisture on surface hydrophobization of ethanol pretreated and plasma treated ramie fibers

► Ramie fibers are plasma treated with ethanol pretreatment at different moisture regains. ► Surface hydrophobicity was improved after the plasma treatments. ► Moisture regain of the ramie fibers had negative influence on hydrophobization of the fiber surface.
