In situ scanning electron microscopy of graphene growth on polycrystalline Ni substrate

► Monolayer graphene growth on a polycrystalline nickel surface was imaged by SEM. ► Dependence of graphene growth on the nickel grain orientation was clearly observed. ► In situ SEM imaging is useful for the investigation of large area graphene growth.
