Growth and vibrational properties of MnOx thin films on Rh(111)

► Layer-by-layer growth of MnOx on Rh(111) was achieved. ► Vibrational properties were obtained by HREELS. ► MnO like trilayer structure formed at submonolayer. ► Mn3O4 initiated from the second layer. ► Stability guaranteed MnOx/Rh(111) a suitable model catalyst.
