N2-plasma nitridation on Si(111): Its effect on crystalline silicon nitride growth

► The proton kinetic energy in silica xerogel is calculated for the first time. ► Input data were taken from IR and Raman frequencies. ► The result is 50% smaller than that using deep inelastic neutron scattering.
