Synthesis and characterization of Eu(III) complexes of modified d-glucosamine and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)

A preliminary in vitro cell study showed that the chain-end functional polymers contained poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) and d-glucosamine(GA), and GA-PNIPAM/Eu(III) complexes are nontoxic and more biocompatible to mouse fibroblast cells(L-929) and human breast cancer cell(MCF-7), compared to the PNIPAM without glucosamine and pure europium trichloride. And complexes uptaken by MCF-7 could be easily tracked within 96 h.81
