Bionic titanium bone tissue engineering implants were constructed by computer-aided design and fabricated by selected laser melting. Novel interconnected porous structure was built using diamond lattice pore units and was proposed for biomechanical design to prevent stress shielding. Material characterization and mechanical test revealed that implant porosity and mechanical strength can be modulated by adjusting pore-unit parameters. Animal experimental results indicated that host bone tissue was thoroughly embedded and fitted into designed porous structures. Optimized design and precisely manufactured implants are conducive for bone repair and regeneration.
