Rhizodegradation of petroleum hydrocarbons by Sesbania cannabina in bioaugmented soil with free and immobilized consortium

► Study conducted to check the effect of bioaugmentation on rhizodegradation of TPH. ► Oil degraders used in free and immobilized form in the presence of S. cannabina. ► 75% TPH degradation in rhizosphere was due to natural plant-microbe interaction. ► Rhizosphere bioaugmentation has not improved TPH degradation. ► Less diverse and abundant hydrocarbon degraders related with high TPH degradation.
