Room temperature synthesis and highly enhanced visible light photocatalytic activity of porous BiOI/BiOCl composites nanoplates microflowers

► Highly enhanced visible light photocatalytic removal of NO in air was realized. ► Flower-like hierarchical porous BiOI/BiOCl composites nanoplates were fabricated. ► The room temperature template free method is environmental friendly. ► The coupling with BiOI with BiOCl led to down-lowered VB and up-lifted CB.
