Performance of sludge treatment wetlands using different plant species and porous media

► 2 different plant species and filter medium were compared in a STW pilot plant. ► The STW studied performed similarly in terms of sludge dewatering and mineralisation. ► After 3 resting months the biosolids were appropriate for land application. ► P. australis and Typha sp. performed similarly, wood shavings may replace gravel filter.
