Effects of Mn(II) on the sorption and mobilization of As(V) in the presence of hematite

► Simultaneous addition of Mn(II) and As(V) enhanced As(V) sorption on hematite. ► A negative effect of the pre-loaded Mn(II) on As(V) sorption was observed. ► Abiotic oxidation of Mn(II) occurred on hematite. ► Formed MnOx on hematite resulted in the mobilization of the adsorbed As(V).
