Removal of sulphur mustard, sarin and simulants on impregnated silica nanoparticles

► Silica nanoparticles has been synthesized using aero-gel process and characterized. ► These were impregnated with reactive chemicals, e.g., trichloroisocyanuric acid. ► Kinetics of removal of sulphur mustard indicated t1/2 value of 2.8 min over it. ► Blister & nerve agents and simulants were degraded to non toxic products over it. ► Toxicants degraded via hydrolysis, elimination, dehydrohalogenation and oxidations.
