Effect of precursor and preparation method on manganese based activated carbon sorbents for removing H2S from hot coal gas

► Manganese oxide based sorbents loaded on AC were prepared by the novel SCWI method. ► Sulfidation performance of SCWI(N) is obviously better than SCWI(A) and PVI sorbent. ► The active phase Mn3O4 in SCWI(N) sorbents is perfectly dispersed on AC support. ► Mn2SiO4-like species of SCWI(A) aggregates on AC and has no desulfurization activity.
