Determination of the risk of self-ignition of coals and biomass materials

► This study provides information on the tendency of biomass and coal to self-ignite. ► An isothermal oven procedure was followed. ► Results were analyzed using the Frank-Kamenetskii method and a scaling procedure. ► The literature contains very few studies on the self-ignition of biomass resources. ► This information may be of use for the design of storage installations.
