Geopolymers prepared from DC plasma treated air pollution control (APC) residues glass: Properties and characterisation of the binder phase

► APC residues are a major problematic hazardous waste. ► DC plasma technology is a commercially viable technology for transforming APC residues into an inert glass (APC glass). ► APC glass can be used to form geopolymers that have particularly good physical properties. ► The research shows the binder consists of geopolymer and cementitious phases encapsulating un-reacted APC glass. ► The work also highlights the potential for developing reuse applications for DC plasma treated hazardous wastes.
