Removal of phenols from aqueous solutions by emulsion liquid membranes

► Extraction of phenol, tyrosol and p-coumaric acid by emulsion liquid membranes. ► Single solute solutions and mixtures of phenols were examined. ► Efficient removal of phenols (97-99%) in 5-6 min with 2% Cyanex 923. ► Retardation of mass transfer rate of tyrosol in the presence of the other phenols.
