Social stress-induced hypothyroidism is attenuated by antidepressant treatment in rats

► The effects of stress on thyroid function depend on the kind and time of stress. ► We evaluated serum thyroid hormone in social defeated rats. ► Stress-like behavior followed hypothyroidism which occurred firstly during stress. ► This work suggests that hypothyroidism leads to behavioral changes observed in social defeated rats.
