Comparative study of β-carotene and microencapsulated β-carotene: Evaluation of their genotoxic and antigenotoxic effects

► We compare the antigenotoxicity of β-carotene and microencapsulated β-carotene. ► Two doses of each compound were evaluated. ► When microencapsulated, β-carotene did not lose its antigenotoxicity. ► A higher dose of the microencapsulated β-carotene should be used to retain its antigenotoxicity.
