Rutin attenuates cisplatin induced renal inflammation and apoptosis by reducing NFκB, TNF-α and caspase-3 expression in wistar rats

► The high-dose therapy with cisplatin is limited by its cumulative nephrotoxicity. ► We evaluated the protective potential of rutin, a naturally occurring flavonoid, against cisplatin induced nephrotoxicity. ► Rutin modulated the cisplatin induced inflammation and apoptosis by abrogating the expression of NFκB, TNF-α and caspase-3. ► These findings were further supported by results of oxidative stress and histopathology.
