The impact of differences in reliability data on the results of probabilistic safety analyses

► A probabilistic safety analysis for the cooling system of an existing plant is performed. ► The comparison of using different sets of reliability data, i.e. process and nuclear plants, offshore, showed that the design weaknesses of the plant are identified no matter which of the data sets is used. ► An alternative analysis procedure based on reliability data ranges was successfully applied; it identified the same design weaknesses as were found with the reliability data.
