Die Blutversorgung der medialen Taluskante

The course of deltoid branch deriving from the posterior tibial artery has been found constantly during dissection of the ankle joint. As anastomosis or compensatory vascular supply could not be identified, the medial shoulder of the talus is suggested to be predominantly vascularized by the deltoid branch. We noticed a close anatomical relationship between the deltoid branch and the medial part of the deltoid ligament indicating a high risk for vascular lesion in ligamentous tear.
