Evidence of substantial recombination among Trypanosoma cruzi II strains from Minas Gerais

Haplotype network basing on the PHASE data, indicating the distance between different nuclear haplotypes from TcII strains. The circle size was proportional to the number of identical haplotypes observed. Different colors referee to different mitochondrial ND4/7 haplotypes: blue - C1 (300/900 bp), red - C2 (530/500 bp), green - C3 (530/900 bp) and yellow - C∗ (not determined). We did not observed any correlation between the clusters when analyzing the nuclear and mitochondrial loci, indicating the previously unexpected independent inheritance of these markers among the TcII strains.
