Genetic speciation of environmental Legionella isolates in Thailand

► There were 256 Legionella strains, isolated from various environmental water sources. ► Typing based on sequences of 5SrRNA and mip gene identify 50 non-pneumophila Legionella and 206 strains of L. pneumophila. ► Phylogenetic tree based on rnp, mip and 16S rRNA genes were constructed, in order to define species. ► Thai isolates were assigned in 16 known Legionella species and 7 novel species.
