Evidence of discordant genetic linkage in the VP4, VP6, VP7 and NSP4 encoding genes of rotavirus strains from adolescent and adult patients with acute gastroenteritis

► Rotavirus (RV) VP4, VP6, VP7 and NSP4 encoding gene sequences were analyzed. ► Data revealed a high frequency (52.2-69.2%) of discordance in the genetic linkage. ► This suggests an intergenogroup reassortment in the RVs from adolescents/adults.
