Interspecies transmission and limited persistence of low pathogenic avian influenza genomes among Alaska dabbling ducks

► We compare 161 low pathogenic avian influenza virus genomes from Alaska ducks. ► Times and distances between collections of similar viruses are analyzed. ► Highly similar virus genomes are detected across years and >1000 km apart. ► Similar viruses are most commonly detected within 10 days and 10 km of each other. ► Our data suggests transmission between some dabbling duck species.
