Phylogeny of the Polycentropodidae (Insecta: Trichoptera) based on protein-coding genes reveal non-monophyletic genera

► The Polycentropodidae form a monophyletic group and sister group to Ecnomidae. ► The polycentropodid genera Polycentropus, Polyplectropus, Plectrocnemia, Placocentropus and Nyctiophylax are polyphyletic. ► The New Caledonian Polycentropodidae groups result from three separate ancestors. ► New genera have to be established for some of the Polycentropodidae groups.
