Phylogenetic placement of the enigmatic and critically endangered genus Saniculiphyllum (Saxifragaceae) inferred from combined analysis of plastid and nuclear DNA sequences

► We inferred the phylogenetic and systematic placement of the genus Saniculiphyllum endemic to China. ► Six of both plastid and nuclear DNA sequence datasets were used in the analysis. ► Almost all genera of Saxifragaceae are included in our analysis. ► Saniculiphyllum is still a genus in Saxifragaceae. ► We also assessed Saniculiphyllun guangxiense as critically endangered species.
