Unresolved molecular phylogenies of gibbons and siamangs (Family: Hylobatidae) based on mitochondrial, Y-linked, and X-linked loci indicate a rapid Miocene radiation or sudden vicariance event

► Phylogenetics of hylobatids were investigated with DNA sequences. ► Hypothesis testing found a lack of resolution among four gibbon genera. ► A lack of phylogenetic resolution is also found within most Hylobates nodes. ► This lack of resolution may be due to vicariance or radiation events within Asia.
