Fasting of 3-day-old chicks leads to changes in histone H3 methylation status

► Fasting stimulated dimethylation/trimethylation of histone 3 at lysine 27 (H3K27) in brain. ► Fasting increased expression of the enhancer of zeste 2 (EZH2) in the PVN and PO/AH. ► In the PVN, CRH mRNA expression was inhibited while TRH mRNA expression was stimulated by fasting. ► These findings suggest a role of H3K27 methylation in epigenetic changes induced by feed stress.
