Physiological and behavioral responses to intermittent starvation in C57BL/6J mice

► Mice increased body mass over 13-day IF supporting dual intervention point model. ► Body mass and adiposity were restored to baseline over more protracted 42 days. ► Body mass gain in intermittently fasted mice was mainly due to greater food intake. ► Hypothermia during fasting days may also have contributed to the increase in body mass. ► Overall physical activity was lowered under unpredictable starvation.
