Spray-dried didanosine-loaded polymeric particles for enhanced oral bioavailability

- Didanosine-loaded microparticles were obtained by spray-drying to prevent drug degradation during gastric transit.
- The encapsulation efficiency ranged from 60 to 100%.
- The yield was up to 65%.
- The particles released the drug within 120 min (in vitro release assays).
- Oral administration to rats increased 2.5-fold the oral bioavailability with respect to a ddI aqueous solution.
