Morphology-directed synthesis of ZnO nanostructures and their antibacterial activity

► We synthesized ZnO-NSs in the presence of pyridine as shape-directing agent. ► Shape-dependent antibacterial activity was observed against several pathogens. ► Concentration of defects indicates ROS damage as mechanism for antibacterial activity.
