Stabilization and immobilization of aquaporin reconstituted lipid vesicles for water purification

► Reconstitution of AquaporinZ into polymerized lipid vesicles for pressure-driven water purification purposes is demonstrated. ► Immobilization of the polymerized vesicles on porous substrates is achieved via robust amine-catechol reactions. ► The polymerized vesicles on porous substrates could sustain high pressure and surface shear in the nanofiltration tests.
