► A novel composite CS-graft-PLGA are developed by grafting CS onto PLGA surface. ► The CS-graft-PLGA nanofibres are successfully produced by electrospinning. ► CS-graft-PLGA nanofibres possess good hydrophilicity and also remain good mechanical properties.
