Prevalence of epilepsy in the People's Republic of China: A systematic review

► The purpose of this study is to estimate the prevalence of epilepsy in mainland China. ► We searched the databases for the studies that provided the prevalence of epilepsy. ► Our results showed that the prevalence rate of epilepsy is higher in China compared with developed countries. ► The highest prevalence of epilepsy is found in the subgroup analysis by males, rural areas, the age group of 10-19 and generalized seizures.
